The DraCor Textbook. An Open Educational Resource for Programmable Drama Corpora

This presentation introduces the DraCor Textbook, an Open Educational Resource developed within the wider DraCorOS context to support teaching, self-learning, and community engagement around programmable drama corpora. It explains the motivation for the textbook, drawing on the DraCor User Survey and the need for clearer learning materials, documentation, and reproducible workflows. The talk situates the textbook within Open Science, OER, active learning, and Jupyter Book-based pedagogy, and presents its intended audiences: students, researchers, instructors, and self-learners. The presentation outlines the current structure of Book 1, dedicated to core concepts and workflows such as programmable corpora, corpus building, TEI encoding, the DraCor front end, the API, and infrastructure. It also introduces the planned Book 2, focused on case studies. Special attention is given to self-assessment, teaching notes, interactive learning activities, and community participation. The talk concludes by inviting contributions through case-study authorship, review, classroom use, and feedback via GitHub.
