The Greek Big Bang Deconstructing the Hellenocentric Singularity of Western Intellectual Origin
The history of the Western mind is largely built upon a secular creation myth: the "Greek Big Bang" . This essay deconstructs the Hellenocentric axiom—the unproven assumption that fifth-century Athens represents a singularity of infinite intellectual density appearing out of an absolute void . This scholarly commitment to Greek priority mirrors the structural logic of Ptolemaic astronomy. When confronted with intellectual phenomena that do not fit the Hellenocentric orbit—such as the dense, indigenous metaphysics of the eighth-century Imami corpus—the traditional scholar does not revise the foundational axiom . Instead, they add "epicycles" of ad hoc explanation: invisible channels of diffusion, vague "atmospheric" influences, and untraceable oral transmissions—each one invented not to explain the data but to force it into a Greek-centered path . Just as Ptolemy’s system eventually collapsed under the weight of its own corrective circles, the Hellenocentric singularity is now buckling under the empirical weight of the pre-existing Prophetic and Near Eastern archives it has for so long attempted to explain away . Drawing on analogies from modern physics and cultural sociology, this work argues that the "Quantum Leap" of the ninth-century translation movement is a sociological impossibility that masks a sophisticated, pre-existing "Operating System" of indigenous thought . By examining the "Prior Art" of Mesopotamian mathematics, Egyptian theology, and the structurally unique architecture of Imami metaphysics, the essay refutes the "Methodological Tic" of universal derivation . It concludes by calling for a transition from an axiomatic "Singularity" to a polyphonic, evidence-based history of ideas—one that recognizes the human mind’s capacity for genuinely original thought in any culture and any era, as demonstrated by the hard breaks of Einstein, Planck, and Heisenberg from their own Greek-Newtonian ancestors.
