A Light-Curable Plant-Protein-Based Colloid Produced Through Controlled High-pH Treatment
This technical note describes light-curable plant-protein colloids produced through controlled high-pH treatment of wheat, soy, and yellow pea protein dispersions. Observations consistent with deamidation, partial hydrolysis, and altered colloidal behavior are discussed in relation to gum-bichromate, direct carbon printing, photo stenciling, screen printing, and related alternative photographic processes. The modified protein systems were compatible with multiple light sensitizers, including ferric ammonium citrate/peroxide, DAS-based, and diazo-based sensitizers, and may represent comparatively lower-toxicity and more materially sustainable alternatives to traditional dichromate-based imaging processes.
