<scp>RTD</scp> model and verification method of high‐throughput chaotic micromixer
Abstract A comprehensive understanding of residence time distribution (RTD) is crucial for the design and optimization of chaotic micromixers. However, due to inherent characteristics of small volumes and short residence times caused by high throughput, traditional RTD measurement technologies fail to meet these requirements, and no corresponding RTD mathematical models have been proposed. Here, an oscillating feedback micromixer (OFM) was selected as a representative high‐throughput chaotic micromixer. An RTD mathematical model for OFM was developed based on data obtained from computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations. Subsequently, a novel RTD measurement system with high temporal resolution, utilizing laser‐induced fluorescence (LIF) technology, was created to validate the reliability of the model. The results indicate that the developed RTD model accurately characterizes complex flow dynamics within OFM under high‐throughput conditions. Additionally, the LIF testing system significantly enhances measurement accuracy and fulfills the stringent requirements for measurement resolution associated with high throughput and short residence times.
