Enhancement of Long‐Term Stability of Ni–Nb Bimetallic Catalysts in Dry Reforming of Methane by DBD Plasma Synergistic Co‐Precipitation Method

ABSTRACT Long‐term stability has always been a critical problem in the field of methane dry reforming. To address this issue, we introduced additives and optimized the preparation method, thereby successfully preparing a highly active and stable catalyst (Ni‐Nb/MCM‐41‐CP‐D). The catalyst was characterized by XRD, SEM, UV, H 2 ‐TPR, XPS, and other techniques. The initial conversion rates of methane and carbon dioxide by Ni‐Nb/MCM‐41‐CP‐D were 81.98% and 76.56%, respectively. After 20 h of reaction, they decreased by 3.16% and 0%, respectively. The initial conversion rates of Ni/MCM‐41‐Im‐C were 59.58% and 65.84%, respectively. After 20 h, they decreased by 30.16% and 21.87%, respectively. Compared with Ni/MCM‐41‐Im‐C, Ni‐Nb/MCM‐41‐CP‐D increased by 27% and 21.87%, respectively. When the reaction was extended to 80 h, the CH 4 and CO 2 conversion efficiencies of the Ni‐Nb/MCM‐41‐CP‐D catalyst decreased by 18.31% and 16.82%, respectively. Characterization results indicate that the synergistic effect of niobium, coprecipitation, and plasma treatment contributes to reducing the particle size of the active metal (Ni‐Nb/MCM‐41‐CP‐D nickel particles measure 7.0 nm), enhancing metal‐support interactions, and increasing the oxygen adsorption capacity on the catalyst surface. This contributes to improving the catalyst's activity and stability.
