Analytical procedure for studying land empathy in Participatory Scenario Planning
This document provides a detailed account of the analytical procedure used in the study "Collective care and rural transitions: The role of empathy in addressing land degradation" (submitted to Sociologia Ruralis). It supplements the methodology section of the main manuscript by offering a step-by-step description of the Interpretive Discourse Analysis (IDA) framework applied to examine how empathy emerged and operated within a Participatory Scenario Planning (PSP) workshop conducted in the Târnava Mare microregion, Transylvania, Romania. This material is intended for researchers interested in the methodological details of discourse-based approaches to studying empathy in participatory environmental governance, rural sustainability transitions, and post-communist land stewardship contexts.
