Timeliness of Treatment Initiation among U.S. Syphilis Cases in 2023
Timely treatment of syphilis is key to interrupting transmission and preventing sequelae. We calculated treatment timeliness for reported syphilis cases in the US in 2023. Most case notifications (85.6%) had documentation of starting treatment within six months, with variations in days to treatment initiation by syphilis stage, sex, and pregnancy status.
