Implementation Of AQI In Sangli

Air pollution has become a major environmental and public health concern, especially in rapidly urbanizing regions. This paper presents the design and implementation of an Internet of Things (IoT)-based Air Quality Index (AQI) monitoring system for Sangli city. The system measures key air pollutants such as PM., PM, NO, SO, CO, and O using low cost sensors integrated with IoT modules for real-time data transmission. Data was collected from five different locations representing commercial, residential, and industrial zones. The collected data was analyzed using the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) AQI standards. Results indicate that most areas fall under the “Moderate” to “Poor” AQI categories, primarily due to vehicular emissions and industrial activities. The proposed system provides a scalable, cost-effective solution for continuous air quality monitoring and can support environmental awareness and policy-making in medium-sized cities.
