Maximizing Sustainability: The Application of Digital Twins in Circular Economy Practices
With the growing focus on sustainability, the use of Digital Twins (DTs) to facilitate sustainable actions has shown immense potential, aiding waste management, resource optimisation, product design, cost savings, and maintenance. Digital Twin in Circular Economy can enhance information and material flows by improving transparency and traceability. This paper analyses and discusses the application of DT technology in the Circular Economy, focusing on its functions, architectural configurations, and use cases. This work shows how DT-based solutions support circular practices across multiple sectors to achieve sustainability outcomes.
