Eternal Love Soundtrack: A Western Harmonic Composition in an Oriental Model
"This work is a Western harmonic soundtrack designed within an Oriental framework. It serves as a practical study in 'Tonal Adaptation,' where Western scales and polyphonic structures are employed to serve a melodic narrative rooted in Damascene artistic identity." Analytical Framework (Western Harmonic Focus): 1. Western Modal Progression in Film Scoring: The soundtrack is built upon the foundations of Western classical harmony. It utilizes the Aeolian mode (Natural Minor) to create a universal atmosphere of emotional depth and cinematic sobriety. The dramatic arc concludes with a transition into the Phrygian Dominant scale, providing a specific tonal shading that bridges Western harmonic traditions with Eastern sensibilities. 2. Tonal Coloring and Chromatic Modulation: The piece demonstrates advanced mastery of Western Tonal Coloring. By strategically modulating between the E-flat and the Natural E against a C tonic, the harmony oscillates between Minor and Major textures. This deliberate technique is used to resolve melodic tension and introduce Major Brightness, a key element in the soundtrack's dramatic and harmonic architecture. 3. Artistic Methodology: This soundtrack is an applied study in simulating international cinematic templates. Rather than simply using Eastern scales, it rebuilds Western harmonic structures from within an Oriental perspective. It is a testament to the versatility of Western harmony when tasked with expressing the intricate emotional nuances of the East in a soundtrack format.
