THE DIGITAL VOICE: HOW THE SPEAKER SHAPES INTERNET JOURNALISM IN THE ALGORITHMIC AGE
Internet journalism has fundamentally restructured how news is produced, distributed, and consumed. Where traditional media relied on institutional gatekeepers and linear distribution, digital journalism operates in a participatory, platform-driven ecosystem characterized by immediacy, interactivity, and algorithmic curation. At the center of this transformation is the evolving role of the speaker: the journalist, podcaster, video host, independent creator, or even AI-generated narrator who delivers news to audiences. Unlike print journalism, where authority was mediated through institutional bylines and editorial hierarchies, internet journalism places the speaker’s voice, persona, and performance at the forefront of audience engagement. This article examines how the speaker functions as a trust architect, algorithmic navigator, and ethical boundary-keeper in modern digital news environments, supported by empirical research and industry trends.
