On the interpretation of negative efficacy in the MUCOSA trial: is the role of eosinophils in refractory chronic cough truly dismissed?
<title>Extract</title> We read with interest the MUCOSA trial reported by Diab et al. [1], which reported that mepolizumab did not improve cough in patients with refractory chronic cough and eosinophilic asthma, despite reducing blood eosinophils. The authors concluded that targeting eosinophils is unlikely to improve cough in these patients. This interpretation, while plausible, may be premature given several methodological considerations.
