ABSTRACT NUMBER: ESOC2026A1210 ETIOLOGY AND RISK FACTORS OF CEREBRAL STROKE IN ECOLOGICALLY UNFORTUNATE AREAS BASED ON THE REGISTER

Abstract Background and aims Stroke is one of the main causes of long-term disability, mortality and high costs for the healthcare system among adults worldwide. Aim: studying the prevalence, etiological causes and risk factors of stroke in various ecologically unfavorable regions of the Republic of Karakalpakstan. Methods In order to determine the prevalence of cerebral stroke in the Aral Sea region of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, diseases leading to stroke, risk factors, clinical course, prognosis in the near future and preventive measures, a "Brain Stroke Registry" was conducted in the Kegeili, Amudarya, Muynak districts of the Republic of Karakalpakstan and the city of Nukus in 2021-2023. Results The study compared districts with unfavorable ecological conditions and different climatic conditions. In Nukus city, 985 patients were diagnosed over 3 years, while in Kegeyli district, 166 patients were registered, in Amudarya district-113, and in Muynak district-65. When analyzing the causes of a total of 1329 cases of insulin, it was revealed that arterial hypertension was present in 985 cases (74.1%), heart disease in 326 cases (24.5%), ventricular arrhythmia in 239 cases (18.0%), myocardial infarction in 184 cases (13.8%), diabetes mellitus in 337 (25.4%), anemia in 74 cases (5.6%), obesity in 334 cases (25.1%), smoking in 164 cases (12.3%), alcohol abuse in 386 cases (29.0%), and hereditary predisposition in a total of 944 cases(71.0%). Conclusions An analysis of the etiological causes and risk factors leading to stroke revealed that the main risk factors for both ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke are arterial hypertension and a high hereditary predisposition.
