Research on current control strategies for high-capacity grid-forming SVG
High-voltage high-capacity grid-forming SVG demonstrates significant effectiveness in system support. However, effective overcurrent management remains a core technical challenge for ensuring its secure and stable operation. Regulating current-limiting control strategies and current-loop parameters enables effective control over the overcurrent performance of grid-forming SVG. By comparing the advantages and disadvantages of instantaneous limiter, amplitude limiter, and priority limiter, the amplitude limiter is identified as more suitable for grid-forming SVG, as it effectively restricts current magnitude and reduces waveform distortion. Simulation results indicate that current-limiting control significantly reduces steady-state and transient current stress but has limited capability in suppressing subtransient current. Further research reveals that subtransient current is influenced by current-loop control parameters, and increasing the current-loop bandwidth can reduce subtransient current. This finding plays an important role in advancing the technological progress and development of grid-forming SVG.
