Bio‐derived <scp>D</scp> elonix <scp>R</scp> egia seed powder: Thermal behavior and safety assessment for energetic systems
Abstract The environment is being affected by the emission of various pollutants and particulate matters. The emission by bursting crackers poses a major threat to environmental degradation. Depending on the quantity utilized in the firecracker composition, the smoke emitted by bursting crackers releases SOx, NOx, COx, and other particulate matter in different proportions. This smoke, which is a mixture of different compounds, combines with atmospheric water vapor to form smog, which lowers visibility and creates unfavorable environmental circumstances. The flash powder composition has been mainly used to manufacture bijili crackers and bombs, which is normally a mixture with 57% potassium nitrate, 23% aluminum, and 20% sulfur. The reduction in the quantity of sulfur in a flash powder composition can reduce the quantity of SOx compounds. This study has helped us to identify Delonix Regia Seed Powder (DRSP) as a promising plant‐based substance that can support the role of sulfur in the flash powder composition. With a comparable reduction in the use of sulfur like 5 and 10 g, the DRSP powder was incorporated with the similar quantity to study the DRSP based flash powder. In order to study the nature of the seed powder, the SEM analysis, XRD, and FTIR tests were conducted. In terms of safety assessment, the impact sensitivity, friction sensitivity, and emission analysis were carried out. It was observed that in a flash powder sample of 100 g, Ten grams of sulfur blended with 10 g of DRSP has yielded better results.
