Pleural and pericardial effusion in severe superior vena cava obstruction: a case report
Superior vena cava (SVC) syndrome can develop as a complication of haemodialysis tunnelled lines and may rarely present with concurrent pleural and pericardial effusions. We report a rare case of severe SVC obstruction in a kidney transplant recipient with a history of haemodialysis tunnelled line use, presenting with both pleural and pericardial effusions.Imaging confirmed extensive central venous occlusion. The patient underwent central vein angioplasty, after which the effusions resolved.
