Clinical and computed tomographic characteristics of conjunctival large cell lymphoma in a cat

Abstract This case report describes a 12‐year‐old, female, neutered domestic shorthair cat presenting with an acute, diffuse, non‐resolving mass‐like lesion affecting the right conjunctiva. Despite an initial conscious snip biopsy result negative for malignancy and contrast‐enhanced computed tomography findings suggestive of sino‐orbital aspergillosis, a final diagnosis of conjunctival large cell lymphoma was reached. The fluctuating conjunctival swelling, clinical response of the contralateral eye to topical medical therapy, and concomitant sinonasal changes added to the diagnostic complexity of the case. This report highlights the importance of considering both benign and malignant aetiologies in the differential diagnoses of conjunctival swelling and mass‐like lesions, and the critical role of obtaining representative deep‐tissue samples under anaesthesia to ensure diagnostic accuracy and avoid misdiagnosis. Furthermore, this report addresses a significant gap in the current veterinary literature by providing computed tomographic descriptions of conjunctival lymphoma in a cat.
