Induction of salivary IgA and IgG responses by parenteral PPV23 vaccination in older adults
Abstract Mucosal immunity restricts Streptococcus pneumoniae colonization, thereby reducing the risk of transmission and disease. This is the first study to demonstrate that parenteral PPV23 vaccination induces salivary IgA and IgG responses in older adults, aged 72–79, an age-group at increased risk for pneumococcal disease.
