Close‐Space Sublimation of Compact, Large‐Area Cs 2 ZrCl 6 Scintillator Films for High‐Resolution Flexible X‐Ray Imaging

ABSTRACT Recently, 0D cesium zirconium chloride (Cs 2 ZrCl 6 ) vacancy‐ordered double perovskite has been regarded as a promising X‐ray scintillator material due to its efficient self‐trapped exciton (STE) luminescence, excellent stability, and facile solution synthesis. However, its limited poor solubility in common solvents severely hinders the fabrication of high‐quality large‐area films via conventional solution processing methods. In this work, we report for the first time the successful application of close‐space sublimation (CSS) technology to fabricate high‐performance Cs 2 ZrCl 6 scintillator screens. By direct deposition onto an aluminum substrate, we obtained large‐area (25 cm 2 ), highly uniform, and phase‐pure Cs 2 ZrCl 6 films. The resulting film exhibits outstanding excellent overall performance, including a light yield (LY) of up to 44 000 photons/MeV, an X‐ray detection limit as low as 0.97 µGy air /s, a spatial resolution of 22.5 lp/mm. It also demonstrates remarkable radiation stability and notable flexibility. This work demonstrates the effectiveness of the CSS technique for inorganic perovskite systems, providing a strategy that addresses the processing bottleneck associated with low‐solubility materials for their rapid film formation.
