Special functions of the embassy in contemporary diplomatic practice

The 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, in Article 3, outlines the primary functions of diplomatic missions (embassies). However, this enumeration is not exhaustive. Diplomatic practice has revealed additional functions—considered minor or special in relation to the Convention text—which may be of particular interest to certain states in specific situations.
