In Case You Haven't Heard…

A new workplace survey from Modern Health, a global workplace mental health platform, suggests growing strain across the U.S. workforce, despite broad access to employer‐sponsored mental health benefits, Business Wire reported April 28. Based on responses from 1,000 full‐time employees at companies with 250 or more workers, the survey found continued erosion of trust in employers, rising anxiety about artificial intelligence (AI) and increased stigma around using mental health supports. Although 76% of respondents reported having adequate mental health coverage, only 33% strongly agreed that their employer values their mental health — down from 41% in 2025. That loss of confidence appears to be affecting help‐seeking behavior: 58% said they would feel safer discussing mental health concerns with a chatbot than with their workplace HR department, up from 50% a year earlier. Stigma remains a barrier as well. Nearly half of employees said they avoid mental health days for fear of judgment, with senior managers reporting the highest levels of concern. At the same time, 69% of employees said they believe AI will lead to layoffs at their company within three years, and almost half said they personally worry about losing their job to AI.
