EMBEDDING SUSTAINABILITY INTO TECHNOLOGICAL ADVANCEMENT: LEGAL STANDARDS FOR RESPONSIBLE INNOVATION

An anomaly in implementation of responsible innovation has become a biggest quest in the modern technological paradigm. Strong alignment between governance structures, social relations and evolving economies is a pressing concern today. It is a widely acknowledged fact that the innovative giant techs have brought ocean of opportunities with them but at the same time some undesired and parallel consequences of such developments can’t be overlooked. The degrading impact on environment is clearly evident. This study tries to examine the existing legal framework by reviewing and analysing the ongoing policies. The paper also highlights the grey areas of these regulations. This study has further attempted to identify and outline the gaps between the actual thematic schemes of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and it’s execution by the corporates in India. The paper has finally come up with a proposal for a more sustainability embedded legal and regulatory framework to guide our big conglomerates.
