Impact resistance analysis of an all-metal vibration isolator: Experimental and numerical investigation

To satisfy the impact resistance requirements of marine ship equipment under multi-directional loads and complex environments, an all-metal vibration isolation device was developed based on the selfbalancing and nonlinear softening stiffness characteristics of the wire rope vibration isolation element. A finite element model was applied to examine how changes in pulse peak and width parameters affect the impact response. The impact resistance of the device was quantitatively assessed by sine sweep tests, combined with the evaluation of the impact isolation coefficient and maximum deformation. The results show that the device presents strong impact resistance, with an impact isolation coefficient reaching 0.92. The simulation and experimental results exhibit a high level of agreement.
