Assessment of suicide risk in military personnel exposed to acute and/or chronic stress

The article discusses the problem of suicide risk in military personnel who are under the influence of acute and/or chronic stress factors. The aim of the study was to identify indicators of suicide risk, taking into account post-traumatic disorders, affective lability and existential factors. The study was conducted, on a sample using questionnaires of traumatic stress, suicide risk factors, a test of life orientations and Self-concept assessment methodology. The results obtained demonstrate that reactive disorders of emotional regulation prevail in people with acute stress disorder, whereas in chronic PTSD, stable personal transformations, depletion of adaptive resources, and increased suicidal vulnerability are revealed. These studies emphasize the need for integrative psychoprophylactic and rehabilitation programs aimed at strengthening personal and existential resources to reduce the risk of suicidal behavior.
