Back Cover
This cover picture uses a musical metaphor to celebrate a new repertoire of synthetic methods (“music scores”) composed specifically to play the atomic notes of C, D, and F. Deuterated fluorocarbon (CFD) moieties such as CF 2 D uniquely combine fluorine's lipophilicity and metabolic stability with deuterium's kinetic isotope effect, offering unprecedented opportunities in drug design and medicinal chemistry. However, the synthesis of these motifs has been severely limited by persistent challenges including low deuterium incorporation levels, lengthy syntheses, inaccessible precursors, and selectivity issues. The review by Fu and co‐workers (pages 1876—1894) showcases the recent breakthroughs in the synthesis of CFD moieties. image
