Exploring the Branding Path of the Luban Workshop Based on the Engineering Practice Innovation Project (EPIP): An Analysis from the Perspective of Philosophy of Technology
Abstract As an important brand of the internationalization of Chinese vocational education, the Luban Workshop takes the Engineering Practice Innovation Project (EPIP) as its core teaching model and has formed a branding path that integrates the ideas of philosophy of technology. From the perspective of philosophy of technology, this paper systematically analyzes the symbiotic relationship between the Luban Workshop and EPIP, and explores its theoretical foundations in Chinese traditional philosophy of technology (such as the ideas of Mozi, Huang Yanpei, and Tao Xingzhi) as well as its theoretical dialogue with Western philosophy of technology (such as the theories of Dessauer, Ihde, and Ellul). Furthermore, from the three dimensions of systematic concepts, institutionalized practices, and global development, this study constructs the branding path of the Luban Workshop based on EPIP, and analyzes its branding effects in terms of the epistemology, theory of activity, and axiology of technology. Meanwhile, this paper points out that in the process of branding, the Luban Workshop needs to coordinate the relationships between localization and globalization, standardization and adaptability, as well as instrumental rationality and value rationality, and looks forward to its future transformation toward knowledge co-creation, innovation ecosystems, and governance innovation. The study shows that the branding of the Luban Workshop is not only a practice of vocational education but also a process of cultural dissemination and value co-construction deeply rooted in the philosophy of technology, providing the world with a technological education model characterized by Chinese wisdom.
