Coalitions of Care and Persistent Refusal

In this welcome editorial, we thank our predecessors and set forth our own vision as new editors of Gender and Language. We acknowledge the contexts and constraints that require us to lead and navigate the journal through a politically fraught and fragmented world that persists in its enmity towards those it marginalizes and minoritizes. As scholars working across different disciplines in language, gender, and sexuality studies, we take up the mantle of our predecessors as we persist, resist, and refuse against dogmas that stoke the fires of ignorance, hate, and terror. In forging and nurturing coalitions of care, we commit to continuing the journal's cultivation of a community of scholars across language, gender, and sexuality studies who act in steadfast solidarity amid trying times.
