Utilization of Improved Cassava Processing Technologies by Women Farmers in Igbo-Etiti Local Government Area, Enugu State, Nigeria

The study analyzed the utilization of improved cassava processing technologies by women farmers in Igbo-Etiti Local Government Area, Enugu State, Nigeria. A multi-stage and purposive sampling techniques were used to collect data for the study. A total of 80 respondents were used as sample size. Data were collected from primary source using structured questionnaire and analyzed using descriptive statistics, such as frequency distribution, percentages, mean and inferential statistics. Major findings showed a high level of access to the cassava processing technologies with a grand mean of 2.63 and a high level of utilization of the technologies by the women with a grand mean of 2.71. The regression result at P<0.05 with a F-ratio of 7.369** indicated a significant relationship between the level of access and level of utilization of the cassava processing technologies by the women farmers thereby rejecting the null hypothesis. The study concluded that, there was a high level of utilization of improved cassava processing technologies by women farmers in the study area and therefore recommends that the women should be encouraged to form Cooperative Societies to enable them pool their resources together and acquire the capital-intensive cassava processing machines, to boost their enterprise.
