Collaboration Between Nursing and Music Therapy
Music therapy, an established health profession guided by evidence-based research, uses music to address patients' biopsychosocial needs. Nursing staff are vital in the delivery of music therapy services for their patients. A limited body of research exists about nurse's perceptions and attitudes toward music therapy. Professional development specialists can help guide nurses in collaborating with music therapists. This column describes how this collaboration can benefit music therapy services and improve patient care.
