Walk to Discount: A Behavioural Economics Model Linking Physical Activity to Retail Incentives
Walk to Discount is a behaviour change platform that connects daily walking to direct economic incentives. The model operates through four annual campaign cycles, each lasting one week. Users earn real-time discounts from participating retailers upon verified step completion. The framework draws on behavioural economics, public health research, and retail ecosystem dynamics. It proposes a tiered step-reward structure grounded in peer-reviewed evidence on the health benefits of incremental daily walking. This working paper presents the theoretical foundation, campaign mechanics, market opportunity, and scientific basis for the step thresholds used in the model.
