Between Group Attachment and Planetary Agency

# Between Group Attachment and Planetary Agency ## Project Description This project presents a preliminary conceptual white paper on the relationship between internal self-regulation and external behavioral control in modern societies. The central idea is that human autonomy should not be treated as a fixed possession, but as a context-dependent psychological achievement. Autonomy may increase when reflective resources such as time, security, education, social stability, institutional trust, and cognitive bandwidth are available. It may decrease under conditions of chronic stress, economic insecurity, social threat, information overload, polarization, authoritarian narratives, or excessive cognitive delegation to external systems. The paper proposes a psychologically grounded heuristic model of internal and external control. It connects questions of self-regulation, economic pressure, social identity, digital media, institutional trust, systemic acceleration, and artificial intelligence. This is not presented as a final theory or peer-reviewed empirical study. It is a structured hypothesis paper intended to support criticism, refinement, empirical testing, and possible falsification. ## Main Research Question Has human technical power developed faster than the psychological and institutional capacity required to govern that power responsibly? ## Key Themes - Internal self-regulation and executive control- External behavioral control through social, economic, institutional, media-based, and technological systems- Economic insecurity as psychological control- Group identity, authority, and polarization- Cognitive overload and information acceleration- AI as either a reflective tool or a mechanism of cognitive outsourcing- Autonomy as a resource-dependent psychological achievement- Operationalization and empirical falsifiability ## Project Status This project is currently at the conceptual white paper stage. The purpose is to invite discussion, identify weaknesses, refine constructs, and develop possible empirical tests. ## Suggested Use This material may be useful for researchers, students, or independent thinkers interested in: - systems theory- political psychology- behavioral economics- human-AI interaction- institutional trust- social resilience- cognitive autonomy- governance under complexity ## Important Note This document is exploratory. It should be read as a theoretical starting point, not as a completed empirical theory. Its value depends on whether the proposed constructs can be operationalized, tested, challenged, and improved. ## Links - White Paper: [Add document link here]- OSF Project Page: [Add OSF link here]- Zenodo Record / DOI: [Add Zenodo DOI here]- Future Updates: [Add repository or contact link here] ## Suggested Project Image A useful project image would be a simple conceptual diagram showing the relationship between: Internal Control + Reflective Resources → Autonomy and External Control + Systemic Acceleration → Reduced Reflective Autonomy Suggested diagram elements: - Internal Control- Reflective Resources- External Control- Systemic Acceleration- Economic Pressure- Digital / AI-Mediated Control- Autonomy- Empirical Testing / Falsification
