GREEN INNOVATION AND PERFORMANCE OF ANAMBRA STATE WASTE MANAGEMENT AUTHORITY (ASWAMA)

The study ascertained the impact of Anambra State Waste Management Agency on environmental sanitation in Anambra State, using inadequate landfill management, lack of segregation of waste, insufficient waste collection vehicle. Survey research design was employed for the study. Data were generated from questionnaires distributed to the respondents. Descriptive analysis was employed for data analysis and simple regression was used to test the hypotheses. The study found that inadequate landfill management has significant effect on the waste collection efficiency of Anambra State waste management Agency (ASWAMA). Lack of segregation of waste have significant effect on the waste collection efficiency of Anambra State waste management Agency (ASWAMA), also insufficient waste collection vehicle have significant effect on the waste collection efficiency of Anambra State waste management Agency (ASWAMA). Conclusively, Anambra State Waste Management Agency has impacted on environmental sanitation in the State. Based on the findings, the study recommended among others that there is need to establish more landfill to ensure proper waste disposal and institute serious oversight through the supervising ministry to entrench good governance
