Mielitis en toxoplasmosis congénita: presentación inusual
A late preterm newborn presented with paresis of the lower limbs with right-sided predominance, ipsilateral patellar areflexia and left-sided hyporeflexia, suggestive of myelitis, which was confirmed by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). The diagnosis of congenital toxoplasmosis was confirmed through the presence of specific immunoglobulins for Toxoplasma gondii in both the mother and the infant. The patient was treated with pyrimethamine, sulfadiazine, and systemic corticosteroids, but showed no clinical improvement.
