ATTITUDE OF UNDERGRADUATE AND POSTGRADUATE STUDENTS TOWARDS STUDENT ACTIVISM IN STATE UNIVERSITIES

Student activism is no longer just seen as an occasional disruption, but as a way for students to be involved in their community and have a say in how things are run. This type of activism is based on the ideas of Paulo Freire, who believed in the importance of critical thinking and community involvement. Public universities play a big role in helping students develop these skills and become active citizens. The goal of this study was to see if there were any differences in how undergraduate and postgraduate students felt about student activism. The study used a survey to collect data from students, and the results showed that undergraduate students had a slightly higher score than postgraduate students when it came to their views on activism. However, this difference was not significant, meaning that it could have been due to chance. The study found that undergraduate students had an average score of 94.51, while postgraduate students had an average score of 92.71. This suggests that student’s views on activism do not change much as they progress through their studies. Instead, it seems that students develop a strong sense of political awareness and critical thinking early on in their university experience, and this remains relatively consistent throughout their time at university. Overall, the study concludes that being an undergraduate or postgraduate student does not have a big impact on how students feel about activism. This is an important finding, as it suggests that universities are doing a good job of teaching students about the importance of community involvement and critical thinking, and that these skills are being developed early on in students' academic careers.
