Multifunctional graphene oxide and PEDOTPSS nanocomposite enabling highly efficient blue multishelled ZnSeTe quantum dot light emitting diodes
In this work, a groundbreaking approach has been incorporated to achieve highly efficient multishelled Zinc Selenium Tellurium (ZnSeTe) blue quantum-dot light-emitting diodes (QD-LEDs) through the integration of a multifunctional graphene oxide (GO)/PEDOT:PSS nanocomposite. We also investigated the synthesis of cadmium-free blue quantum dots (QDs) and PEDOT:PSS:GO nanocomposites, the optimization of device structures through simulation, and the fabrication of high-efficiency quantum dot light-emitting diodes (QLEDs). The synergistic properties of GO and PEDOT:PSS revolutionize the charge transport dynamics, significantly enhancing electrical conductivity and structural integrity. The GO/PEDOT:PSS layer exhibits multifaceted functionalities: it facilitates efficient hole injection, serves as an effective hole transport layer (HTL), and provides robust electron-blocking capabilities. This multifunctionality ensures optimal energy level alignment, minimizes charge injection barriers, and fosters superior electron-hole recombination, drastically reducing non-radiative losses and resulting in a sharp increase in quantum efficiency and device performance. In this study, we also designed and simulated ZnSeTe/ZnSe/ZnS QD-LEDs incorporating multifunctional GO/PEDOT:PSS layer. Notably, the GO/PEDOT:PSS device demonstrates an 61% enhancement in power efficacy, 38% improvement in current efficacy, 38% increase in external quantum efficiency (EQE), 25% boost in brightness, and 62% extension in device lifetime as compared with its counterpart. Furthermore, simulations conducted in parallel with experimental investigations reveal a strong correlation, validating the predictive models and enhancing confidence in the design approach. The multishelled ZnSeTe quantum dots, known for their exceptional bandgap tunability and robust photoluminescence, form a highly stable emissive layer that delivers intense blue light with remarkable color purity and brightness. Our results establish unprecedented benchmarks in luminance, quantum efficiency, and device stability, positioning this GO/PEDOT:PSS architecture as a transformative solution for next-generation QD-LEDs. This work not only sets a new standard for blue QD-LEDs but also opens vast opportunities for the integration of multifunctional nanocomposites in cutting-edge display and optoelectronic technologies.
