Beyond Grades: How Learning Sessions Shape Early Experiences
Learning sessions (LS) are evening sessions that support students in working on classwork, homework, projects, and English skills. Students are provided with both self-directed learning time and structured activities. With this, the study highlighted the role of the LS in shaping the impact of students' early experiences at ICT Hakusanroku Campus. The study used the Google online survey form to collect the data needed for its objectives. The survey was regularly conducted at the end of each semester to help Learning Mentors (LMs) gather students' overall feedback and potential insights for future use. Learners perceive the Learning Session and skill-building activities as moderately to highly beneficial, indicating that the LS creates an effective learning and skill development experience. Interpreted through Social Constructivism, Experiential Learning Theory, and Self-Determination Theory, the findings demonstrate that the LS successfully creates a socially rich, supportive environment where LMs serve as effective scaffolds for students' learning.
