Repairing Damaged Reinforced Concrete Plate Beams in an Approach Bridge Subject to Fire Hazard: A Case Study
In this paper, a case study of repairing damaged reinforced concrete (RC) plate beams in an approach bridge is implemented, in which the approach bridge is subject to a fire hazard. The damage degree of the RC plate beams is evaluated with field investigation and numerical analysis, and a repairing countermeasure is proposed and adopted in the practical implementation. The result demonstrates that the damage degree of the aforementioned RC plate beams can be reasonably evaluated with the integration of field investigation and numerical analysis, including not only the field testing on the mechanical properties of concrete and rebar but also the analysis on the structural performance, providing the design basis of repairing the damaged RC plate beams, in which the repaired approach bridge has been safely run for more than 10 years with good technical condition.
