Differentiated approach to drug correction of the genitourinary syndrome

The development of the genitourinary syndrome caused by a progressive decrease in estrogen levels significantly reduces the quality of life, general health and sexual activity. In recent years, the symptoms of genitourinary syndrome have become widespread in women of various age groups and are associated with both transient hypoestrogenism, which often accompanies the course of the postpartum period and breastfeeding, taking medications, and persistent estrogen deficiency due to physiological or surgical menopause, primary ovarian insufficiency, radiation or adjuvant cancer therapy. An integrated approach to the correction of the genitourinary syndrome is relevant for obstetricians and gynecologists, psychotherapists and doctors of other specialties. This review presents data on the main symptoms and pathophysiological mechanisms of their development, and describes safe modern correction strategies.

An integrated approach to the correction of the genitourinary syndrome is relevant for obstetricians and gynecologists, psychotherapists and doctors of other specialties. This review presents data on the main symptoms and pathophysiological mechanisms of their development, and describes safe modern correction strategies.
