A Breath of Uncertainty: Diagnostic Challenge in a Young Athlete

<h2>Abstract</h2> This case challenge presents a young adolescent athlete experiencing dyspnea. Through a structured, comprehensive assessment and private interview, the clinician uncovered critical information that guided appropriate management. The case emphasizes the importance of biopsychosocial evaluation, validated screening tools, and family-centered care. This case guides practitioners through the patient presentation, differential diagnoses, and diagnostic evaluation for definitive diagnosis. Therapeutic interventions and follow-up are discussed in relation to the diagnosis. Nurse practitioners play a pivotal role in early recognition and intervention to optimize adolescent health outcomes.
