Yield and yield attributing traits influenced by priming treatments of humic acid and Panchgavya in coriander (Coriandrum sativum L.)

Organic priming, the process of treating seeds with beneficial naturally occurring compounds or organic formulations before to planting, has attracted a lot of interest in modern agriculture due to its potential to boost crop output and promote sustainable farming practices. Recent advances in organic priming have demonstrated how it may enhance the availability of nutrients and promote plant growth, both of which increase output. This study investigated the effects of various seed priming techniques on the growth and yield of the Coriander, cv- Azad Dhania-1, during the rabi season of 2023–24 and 2024–25 using a randomized block design (RBD). The experiment was conducted at the Vegetable Research Farm (Kalyanpur), Chandra Shekhar Azad University of Agriculture and Technology, Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, India. The following treatments were used: T0- control, T1- hydropriming for 24 hr soaking, T2- vermi wash 15 % for 24 hr soaking, T3- cow urine 20 % for 24 hr soaking, T4- panchgavya 15 % for 24 hr soaking, T5- humic acid 20 % for 24 hr soaking, T6- GA3 50 ppm for 24 hr soaking, T7- NAA 50 ppm for 24 hr soaking, T8- cytokinin 100 ppm for 16 hr soaking, T9- KNO3 3 % for 16 hr soaking and T10- NaCl 4 g L-1 for 16 hr soaking. The best results were obtained in T4 for number of primary branches (7.61), number of secondary branches (10.72), while, T5 for number of tertiary branches (4.06), number of umbel per plant (42.94), number of seed per umbel (41.88), raw seed yield per plant (11.63 g), graded seed yield per plant (10.48 g), raw seed yield per plot (0.767 kg), graded seed yield per plot (0.692 kg), raw seed yield per hectare (1534.72 kg) and graded seed yield per hectare (1383.84 kg) in pooled. Therefore, it can be said that priming with organics like panchgavya and humic acid is more advantageous for improving coriander growth and production.
