In Remembrance

It is with a heavy heart that I inform the CJSM community that Sameer Dixit, MD, an associate editor for CJSM, died on December 29, 2025. Affectionately known as “Sam” to many of us in the sports medicine community, he dedicated himself to the care of athletes and the advancement of sports medicine. During his career, Sam served as a team physician for both collegiate and professional athletes. This included his beloved Baltimore Orioles, the New York Knicks, the New York Giants, and USA Lacrosse. His true professional passion was teaching and mentorship, where he truly excelled. For 10 years, he was a core faculty member of the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine Fellows' Research Conference, and most recently served as the Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship Director at Hospital for Special Surgery in New York. Nationally, he was serving a second term on the AMSSM Board of Directors. Re-elected to the position by his peers. Sam was, above all else, a family man. His greatest pride was the life he built with his wife, Rachana. His children, Shiv and Siya, were the light of his eyes. He would talk about them at every opportunity. He was warm, friendly, kind, and humble. Not only was he funny, but he also had a clever wit that put people at ease. Sam will be missed by many friends and colleagues. But for those who knew him, remembering his trademark smirk can give us assurance that everything will be alright. Rest easy, dear friend. We will carry your memory in every story we tell.
