Evaluation of Fungicides and Timing for Cercospora Leaf Spot Control in Table Beet in Geneva, New York, 2025

Cercospora leaf spot (CLS), caused by the fungus Cercospora beticola, is a major constraint to table beet (Beta vulgaris ssp. vulgaris) production in New York (NY). The disease causes defoliation which deleteriously affects harvest using top-pulling machinery. The first objective was to optimize the efficacy of Cevya and Miravis Prime according to application frequency for CLS management. An additional objective was to evaluate GotaBlanca and titanium dioxide nanoparticles (TiO 2 NP) for CLS control. For Cevya and Miravis Prime, there was no significant benefit in applying more than one application, at a 7-day reapplication interval. GotaBlanca provided excellent CLS suppression and there was no significant difference in CLS severity between the rates tested. TiO2 NP was only effective for CLS management at the highest rate (1,500 ppm) but some phytotoxicity occurred.
