The convergence of knowledge management, digital innovation, and firm performance in business: A conceptual review

In the modern business environment, marked by rapid technological change and the essential role of digital tools, a new approach to firm performance is required, integrating Knowledge Management Processes (KMP) and digital innovation. This integration significantly enhances a firm's agility, adaptability, and overall performance. The study aims to explore the interplay between KMP and digital innovation and their collective impact on firm performance, particularly how KMP supports the creation and implementation of digital innovations to improve business outcomes. Through a comprehensive literature review spanning several databases, including Google Scholar and EBSCOhost, this study analyzes a variety of research articles: 2 mixed-methods, 10 qualitative, 47 quantitative, and 13 review studies from 2018 to 2024, focusing on the intersections of firm performance, knowledge management, and digital innovation. The findings reveal that effective KMP boosts decision-making and innovation, enhancing firm performance. Digital innovation is transformative in modernizing business processes and increasing operational efficiency. The synergy between KMP and digital innovation profoundly influences firm performance, improving operational efficiency, enhancing customer engagement, and increasing adaptability. This study introduces a novel framework for integrating KMP and digital innovation, providing fresh insights into their synergistic impact on firm performance in the digital age. The conclusion underscores the importance of effectively integrating these elements, which is crucial for firms to maintain a competitive edge and achieve sustainable growth. Managers are advised to strategically integrate KMP and digital innovation, fostering a knowledge-centric culture, policy, and continuous learning to stay ahead in the rapidly evolving business landscape.
