Vehicle Energy Harvesting by a Hybrid-Mode Triboelectric Nanogenerators with Turbine Vent and the Application of Self-Powered Intelligent Transportation
Currently, logistics vehicles with a constant temperature rely on complex sensing and detection systems that require additional power. However, the wind and vibration energies generated during vehicle operation were completely wasted. Here, we designed a hybrid-mode triboelectric nanogenerator (HM-TENG), which consists of a dual-stator floating triboelectric nanogenerator (DSF-TENG) and a contact-separation triboelectric nanogenerator (CS-TENG), respectively, used to harvest wind and vibration energy generated during vehicle operation. In an 8 m/s wind field, the output characteristics of the DSF-TENG are as follows: an open-circuit voltage of 216 V, a short-circuit current of 5.31 μA, and a related peak power of 1.63 mW under an integrating resistance of 200 MΩ. Under the vibration frequency of 6 Hz, the open-circuit voltage, short-circuit current, and transfer charge of the CS-TENG can reach 91.53 V, 11.24 μA, and 56.77 nC, respectively. Furthermore, the power system constructed based on HM-TENG can not only drive temperature, humidity, and alcohol sensors but also upload corresponding sensing signals to the entire control terminal via a wireless transmitter. Our research results provide a technical solution for in situ energy harvesting in vehicles and offer an important technical approach for the design of intelligent and energy-efficient logistics vehicles with constant temperature.
