Adsorption of brilliant blue 133 dye in single, multicomponent system onto magnetic activated carbon as composite derived from Anana cosmosus peels

The research investigated the potential of Anana comosus peel magnetic activated (ACPMAC) for removing Brilliant Blue (BBE133) dye from water in various dye combinations, including single, multicomponent systems alongside Neutral red (NR) and Malachite green (MG) dyes. The characteristics of the adsorbent were analyzed through techniques such as Fourier Transform Infrared spectroscopy, Scanning Electron Microscopy, and the pH point of zero charges. Batch adsorption tests were conducted to examine the adsorption processes' equilibrium behaviors, thermodynamics, and kinetics. The pseudo-second-order kinetics model provided the best fit for all the sorption systems, with R2 values observed for BBE133= 0.9997 and binary BBE133+NR= 0.9999, BBE133+MG= 0.9997, and BBE133+NR+MG= 0.9999. Evaluation of thermodynamic parameters revealed that the adsorption process is exothermic for all dyes and spontaneous in both single and multicomponent systems.
