Het afstemmen van stabiliteit en recombinatie via dimensioneel ontwerp van halide perovskieten, voor robuuste opto-elektronische apparaten

Metal halide perovskites have emerged as a highly versatile class of semiconductor materials, offering exceptional optoelectronic properties combined with low temperature, solution-processable fabrication. Their rapid rise in applications such as light-emitting diodes (LEDs), photodetectors, and photovoltaics has been driven by high photoluminescence quantum yields, tunable bandgaps, and defect-tolerant electronic structures. Despite this progress, the practical implementation of perovskite-based optoelectronic devices remains hindered by challenges related to long-term stability, nonradiative recombination losses, and an incomplete understanding of excited-state dynamics across different dimensional regimes. Addressing these limitations requires a fundamental and systematic investigation of how dimensionality influences both stability and recombination pathways. This PhD thesis investigates how structural- and material-level dimensional design can be employed to tailor the stability and recombination dynamics of halide perovskites, with the overarching goal of enabling more robust optoelectronic devices. By combining controlled synthesis, advanced spectroscopic characterization, and device-relevant considerations, this work establishes clear structure-property relationships across a broad range of perovskite dimensionalities.
