Occurrence of Stenocypris sketi Petkovski & Meisch, 1996 (Crustacea, Ostracoda) in India: a new addition to the Indian ostracod fauna
During a faunistic survey of freshwater habitats in India, the cypridid ostracod Stenocypris sketi Petkovski & Meisch, 1996 was found for the first time in India. The species was collected from a range of freshwater habitats including a pool, lake, river, and potholes in Maharashtra, India.   Stenocypris sketi had been treated as a subspecies of Stenocypris major (Baird, 1859) but was subsequently elevated to full species status on the basis of consistent differences. This species is known from Sri Lanka and Thailand but has also been reported as an introduced species in Japan.
