In Case You Haven't Heard…
Harm reduction advocates may have pushed their luck with the governor of Connecticut last week. Although home to Yale University, where some of the biggest harm reductionists in the country work, Connecticut isn't likely to support programs where illicit drug use takes place. The state does have harm‐reduction centers, but does not allow drug use in them. Pending legislation in the state would allow such use, but Governor Ned Lamont told harm reduction advocates that he was not likely to support drug consumption in the facilities. Currently there are four state facilities that would function as pilot sites for the drug use. According to advocates, allowing drug use in the centers would reduce overdoses, as staff would be there to help rescue people from overdoses.
