Macrolide antibiotics in outpatient practice
In outpatient practice, the leading respiratory pathogens are pneumococci and atypical microflora, against which macrolide antibiotics have high microbiological activity. However, the growing resistance of gram-positive pathogens to macrolides due to the uncontrolled use of the latter limits their use. The article discusses the mechanisms of resistance of various types of macrolide antibiotics, the features of their pharmacokinetics and non-antibiotic properties, the advantages of 16-membered macrolides are shown.
