Morphological and Molecular Characterization of Hygrocybe xanthopoda (Hygrocybaceae) From India

ABSTRACT While conducting a macrofungal survey across different temperate mixed forests of district Chamoli, located in Uttarakhand, India, we came across a fascinating discovery within the Hygrocybe genus. The present paper reports the first record of Hygrocybe xanthopoda Young, from India. The taxon has been found to be associated with Quercus leucotrichophora . Detailed description, illustrations, distribution and ecology are presented along with nrITS based phylogeny.
